Cassy and Nan are a piece of the laborers class. They live in a significant little loft and they don’t even own a telephone so every time they have to call they utilize their neighbor Mrs Ramage’s telephone. Cassy’s time went through with Goldie, Goldie’s sweetheart Lyall Cornelius and Lyall’s child Robert Cornelius, was horrible and extraordinary for her. Furthermore, slender hard lower legs with long-toed feet and long fingers. In any case, soon enough Cassy has discovered that was thoughtful, kind and capable. In any case, through her encounters of really participating in the show she realized that it wasn’t all that simple and that a great deal of planning and practice went into it. Living with her Nan her life had structure and security, however that all changed when she lives with her mom. The brief timeframe Cassy was living with her mom she has gotten familiar with her dad than she at any point knew living with her Nan since her Nan said â€Å"It’ll be a great opportunity to disclose to you when you develop up†-page 47. It was all a serious scramble for Cassy from just having an image of her dad investigating the separation to discovering that her dad was a piece of the IRA. The Evolution of The Database Essay example - 847 Words

Intro People have been collecting information since the dawn of recorded history. Very shortly after we started recording we ran in to the problem of storage. Where do we put all of this information? We soon developed written languages so we could store our collected information. The next problem to arise was retrieval of our stored information. This led to the development of systems like the dewy decimal system. Organizing books by subject and author made information retrieval a little easier. However, it was computer that revolutionized information storage and retrieval. Thus the first databases where born. Flat File Flat file databases where the first of many database models, almost as old as the computer. Flat file databases†¦show more content†¦The network model allowed child tables to have more than one parent. This allowed for â€Å"many-to-many† connections and the creation of associative tables. Associative tables exist to support â€Å"many-to-many† relationships by being the recipient of two or more â€Å"one-to-many† relationships. The introduction of these different types of relationships was a huge leap forward in database design. However, the network model still suffered one of the flaws of its predecessors. Skilled programmers, to setup and operate the database, were still needed. Relational The relational database model is the current standard in data origination and retrieval. Like the network model relational databases connect tables by relationships. Associative tables are still used to express â€Å"many-to-many† relationships. There are two big changes in the relational model compared to the network model. The First big change is the use of logical pointers to show relationships. The network model used physical pointers to record relationships. These new pointers are called foreign keys. Each table in a database has a primary key field. This primary key is a unique identifier for each record in that table. When a â€Å"one-to-many† relationship is created, in a relational database, the parent table replicates its primary key as a foreign key in the child table. Associative tables will have many foreign keys, one for eachShow MoreRelatedThe Evolution of Databases596 Words   |  2 PagesDatabase: Throughout the history of information, human beings have shifted seemingly rapidly from the oral storytelling tradition, to manuscripts then printed books, filing systems, and databases. There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more Important than the International music that is heard everywhere nowadays? Thesis statement: Music is a part of our life, no matter it is traditional or international. Music Is an Inevitable part of our life. We do not even know when and where people first started to listen for music. It is obvious that music is as old as the human being in this world. We were listening to the different sounds and the type of rhythms even when we are not brought out to this world of noise and rhythms and music.Even those who think they are not musical person are able to differentiate between the rhythms and beat of music carefully and enthusiastically. I would roughly separate music in two parts. First is stimulating music. This particular type of music affect us by it is inappropriate rhythm and stimulate to more actively acting like awaking after having a good sleep. Second part Is sedating music. Some of us would have this type of music because; It helps us to be more sedate when we need it. Many of us need music after a hard work. Some enjoy while the driving. We need it even when we are sad. Task: Is the traditional music of a country more important than the International music that is heard everywhere nowadays?Essay: There are many different types of music in the world today. It consists of two types music, namely, the traditional music and the international music. Each of them insists on many types of music. Unconsciously we hear music every day, though not every time. On the street while walking some of us enjoy hear music with pod etc. Sometimes in restaurant traditional or folk music are played, so the guest can enjoy the meal. In a bar or cafe, music is a must, so the guest can enjoy the atmosphere while talking each other. Without music it will be hard. For example, sometimes I can learn better, if I hear music, even it is rock music. It is Just better than nothing. Sometimes music can motivate us, so we can focus on do something better. Without music, it could be ring. I think the international music is as important as the traditional music nowadays. Even the international one is more popular. But there are still many groups which still keep the traditional one, so this kind of music still exists. The traditional music of a country also shows us how a country develops, not in economic aspect, but culturally.Traditional music is normally also important because it related to the traditional dance. Without traditional music the traditional dance wouldnt be exist. In conclusion I believe that the most of us need music, pop, hip hop, Jazz, countries, lees and other types of music. And every of us have a favorites music. That means that all kind of music is important to us. The question is:There are many different types of music in the world today. Why do we need music? Is the traditional music of a country more important than the International music that is heard everywhere nowadays?Answer: We listen to various kinds of music everywhere nowadays. All of us need music to get relaxed and to be emotionally enriched with new ideas and thoughts. According to me people should always be very open minded to accept different kinds f new ideas, new songs, new music which may be not traditional but Internationally this is the purpose off music. I am always against of something new which is hazardous to our mental health and creates irritations instead of giving us pleasures. So people should always be very choosy so that they can differentiate between anything good and bad.I optionally discourage those people who are always confined to their own traditions. Elf somebody feels that their traditional music is the best, then he/she can give preference to it but he/she must listen to all the varieties of music. That is why nowadays musicians are ere open to accept new types of music and this helps them in composing new kinds of music. In my opinion people should be flexible in choosing music. L believe any music giving me happiness and nurture my emotions,is a good music and Ill give it more importance than a traditional irritating one. Music is an important part in our life. It is necessary for three reasons: cultural identity, entertainment, and connections among countries. Firstly, music is believed to be a representation of our culture. Different countries have different genres of music. Based on the rhythms, one can say from where a song comes. Secondly, it plays an essential role in entertainment. For example, every party or ceremony needs music. When we feel stressful, we also listen to music. Finally, it is a connection among countries. As can be seen, for a good song such as My heart will go on, people can probably find it all over the world. Moreover, in many universities such as Manchuria University, we can easily find many ceremonies in which students from different countries gather together and play their traditional music so that students can understand more about other cultures and make friends during their university life. From my personal perspective, the traditional and international music are of the same importance. As mentioned earlier, music is important because it is relaxing. Therefore, people can enjoy whatever kinds of music they feel interested in. Lets assume that one kind of music is deemed as more important than the other. If people cannot enjoy it, it is Just of no use. Besides that, different people have different tastes so we can find that some people will love traditional music whereas others are more interested in international music. Next, we need to maintain traditional music since it is part of our culture. If for whatever reasons we lose traditional music, all the songs around the world will be probably very similar to each other. At that time, everybody could feel indifferent to music because of its homogeneousness. Around the world, people listen to various kinds of music. Everywhere, a lot of different types of music are created all the time. When it come to the question that why do people need music? I have two simple reasons. The first reason is that music allows people to relax. It lets the audiences to imagine and create their own picture about what they are listening and feeling. Indeed, music takes listener out of the stress for a while. For example, from my experience, I always listen to the Reggae music when I feel stressful, especially after taking the important exams. It is the best way to calm me down quickly. The second reason is that music is the language of the world. It unites people and brings peace. As you can see from many concerts, the audiences come from different places, different beliefs, and even different nationalities, yet, they are able to enjoy the music together. They move their body and pace together. As you can imagine, USIA is the beautiful language that every can feel it, even though, sometime they cannot understand it.Nowadays, millions of music are shared easily through the recent technology, so countrys traditional music may spread throughout the world, and become a international music of others. In my view, I think both traditional and international music are equal importance. If each allows people to enjoy its content and sweetness, it would not be Judged from its origin. In short, music could not be inevitably separated from us. It helps individuals relax, and unite persons together. Clearly, people need music, regardless of its origin.

Employment Under Machines for Nepotism - myassignmenthelp.com

Question: Discuss about theEmployment Under Machines for Nepotism. Answer: Human machine interactions refer to a multidisciplinary discipline that deals with the study of communication between the humans and the machines (Booth, 2014). According to some surveys, there are many candidates who would prefer being interviewed by a computer instead of a human being. According to studies, employees under the age group of 40 would like their work to be judged by an unbiased computer program algorithm rather than having a human being as a judge. The people of this age group consider the computer programs to be more ethical and trustworthy than the leaders and managers of the concern. According to some of the subjects of the conducted survey, the new generation has an enormous amount of trust in the computer algorithms rather than in the living human beings. The younger generation argue that they trust technology to navigate them properly around the city or to find them life-partners in case of online dating sites. Thus, interestingly, they find it rational enough to trust the algorithms for judging their employment outcomes (Hrreporter.com, 2017). According to the people on whom the survey was conducted, human beings unlike machines discriminate employees based on a number of issues like nepotism and sexism. In a workplace where the employers are humans there arises matters relating to power play and ego. It is interesting to note in the reported article that the employees are elated with the thought of having a workplace devoid of biases of these kinds. They are happier to find out that there may be a situation where they would be judged only on the basis of the job they deliver. References Hrreporter.com. The Weeders By Breton And Women Picking Olives By Van Gogh

The two paintings under consideration, Van Gogh’s Women Picking Olives, and Breton’s The Weeders, have much in common, despite choosing dramatically different techniques, reflecting a change of approach, but achieving equally lovingly appreciative results.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Weeders By Breton And Women Picking Olives By Van Gogh specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More These works, roughly 20 years apart in time of creation, are similar in that they portray women engaged in agricultural labor, with affection and appreciation for the people as well as the landscape. They are very different in their emphasis on representation and their technique. Both evoke a season, a place, and a whole occupation and way of life, effectively. Jules Breton’s painting was painted in 1868, meaning that the artist was roughly 42 years of age, a mature age for the era. He was born in 1827, in the second generation dealing with the aftereffects of the Revolution. France was still struggling to handle the challenge of civil self-government after all the violence of previous decades. Breton came to adulthood during the rule of Napoleon III, who did expand the vote, although there were still great class and economic divisions in society 1. The subject of The Weeders, an oil on canvas, is the very class of people who were most oppressed in the ancient regime, peasant laborers . A group of six women, dressed simply in coarse clothing and head scarves, crawl, kneel, stoop and rest in a flat field. They pull small weeds from among the low-growing crop in the light of what, logically, must be a dawning sun. Their forms are all well-rounded suggesting that they are well-fed. Their faces are suggested with some hints of beauty. In the background are other weed pickers, similarly occupied. The skies are filled with small rosy clouds and a crescent moon. There is nothing between them an d the horizon except a few trees.Advertising Looking for research paper on art and design? Let's see if we can help you! In this, Breton hearkens back to the academic realism of earlier decades. However, it is impossible not to infer some influence from the movement which had resulted in the Salon des Refuses in 1863. For example, the subject matter is not the heroic subject matter of the past: generals, battle scenes , nobility, citizen heroes, and religious scenes or moral allegories. Instead, the subject matter is the everyday, the ordinary, the scenes that anyone could see along any road. Additionally, the angle at which the viewer sees the subjects is also not the distant, all-seeing, all-knowing studio vantage point of previous decades. The angle of view is like that of a photographer crouching down at the level of the laborers. They ignore their observer in the painting, but when Breton observed them, the subjects would have had to be able to see him. Their obliviousness suggests that either the scene was originally captured with the fledgling technology of photography, or set up in the artist’s studio, or represents a genius memory for shadow and positioning on the part of the artist. Breton emphasizes the horizontality of his scene, and the sense of being at the same level as the subjects by stretching the width of the canvas, which is 28Ãâ€"50 inches. The tradition of academic painting called for a flawless surface where brushstrokes were invisible to the eye. That is not true entirely in The Weeders. Especially in the sky, the brushstrokes are visible. The colors are muted, which recalls the academic tradition, but this fits with the near darkness at daybreak in which the women do their work. However, the artis t has managed to illuminate the faces of the laborers with the low-level light from the rising sun. This gives them a dignity that is consonant with his pattern of honoring French rural life with his paintings 2. The Women Picking Olives, by Van Gogh, is dated at about two decades later . In the 1880s, the Impressionist movement, arguably formalized with an 1872 exhibition, had had nearly two decades for artists and their aficionados to get used to the new way of seeing. This is reflected in Van Gogh’s choices, and in the fact that he showed the painting to Gaugin, who approved of it 3.Advertising We will write a custom research paper sample on The Weeders By Breton And Women Picking Olives By Van Gogh specifically for you for only $16.05 $11/page Learn More The painting is narrower at 28Ãâ€"36, and the orientation is more vertical. The scene is analogous to that in The Weeders; the work of agricultural laborers. The three equally simply dressed women are doing similar heavy labor, up on ladders or standing on the grass. The time of day is not instantly apparent, because we don’t see the sun or moon. The color scheme of the entire picture is relatively muted, or perhaps sun-bleached. Van Gogh apparently made several versions of this scene, each with a slightly varying choice of color intensities 4 . This particular one, in the Metropolitan Museum, has low contrast between the lavender grey of the grass, the sage green of the leaves, and the peachy-pink of the sky. However upon closer inspection, the pink color of the sky seems perhaps to be, as in the Breton painting, an indication of dawn or dusk. A very close inspection reveals that there is a golden band of color at the horizon, probably representing the glow of the sun as it rises above the horizon. Since olives grow only in the hottest, sunniest areas, dawn makes more sense for this kind of strenuous, finicky work. What distinguishes this painting most obviousl y is the difference in technique. Van Gogh is demonstrating a very different approach to portraying a parallel scene filled with ground, sky, plants, and people. His brushwork is obvious, and in fact it appears that a single curving brushstroke makes up, or almost makes up, each branch or a trunk of the gnarled and ancient-looking olive trees. In the orchard that Van Gogh painted, it is quite possible that the trees were a century old, perhaps more, and pruned into the tortured and twisted shapes shown in the painting, by the actions of many generations of arborists. It looks as though each blade of the long grass is another individual swirling brushstroke. This pattern is repeated right up into the sky, with the clouds also made up of crescent shaped brushstrokes in mixed colors of pink and white. This repetition makes the picture almost an abstraction because, in real life, every tree, every branch, every person has its own unique texture.Advertising Looking for research paper on art and design? The identity of the people in the Breton painting could, conceivably, be confirmed if one had a photo or another painting of any of the models. On the other hand, this is not possible with the Van Gogh. His models are one step away from being blobs of color and shape. They are symbolic of the laborer as an idea, rather than being individuals with names, faces, lives, and dreams or complaints about their lives. To compare them is to see painting at two different moments in its development. Breton is moving away from realism and obsessive attempts to duplicate the appearance of reality in every detail no matter how small. He is moving away from art as a recorder of the elite, the aristocratic or the politically important. Van Gogh is firmly moving towards the direction of an e qually obsessive attempt to capture the impression, the squint-eyed, blurry-vision overall glimpse of a scene. This is the goal of the Impressionists, and Van Gogh was clearly pursuing it. The two paintings both attempt to represent reality, as the artist saw it. The two paintings preserve the elements in the scene that the artist value most and wish to convey. However, Van Gogh has elected to suppress detail in preference for shape and color and the impression of movement, perhaps of a dawn tide of wind. In this, he is in a completely different school of technique from his elder. Both paintings are vivid evocations of a way of life that was to change drastically over the next generation, as people moved to cities and industry took over the landscape. Both paintings represent the labor itself as dignified, worthy of being the subject of the most careful, affectionate, and accomplished portrayal. Where To Find Sample Essays For Middle School Students

Where To Find Sample Essays For Middle School StudentsTo find samples of sample essays for middle school students, one must begin in the right place. For middle school students, it is the time when they are gaining a solid understanding of academic concepts, which includes language skills, reading and writing. Through this information, these students will move on to more advanced classes such as freshman year, or even later on. They may even decide to continue their education after high school, depending on their own individual goals.Nowadays, many resources that can help middle school students are available, such as essays, word documents, essay samples, and other instructional materials. However, there are times when the student who needs assistance has difficulty locating the right resources, or perhaps, is not able to identify what the appropriate resource is for him or her. Therefore, in order to make sure that all Middle School students are able to find the help they need, it i s important that the teachers and guidance counselors carefully research and identify the appropriate resources. One great way to locate these resources is through online tutorials, which can help the students who are still struggling to understand the concepts that are covered in the curriculum. Online tutorials are useful since they usually include instruction manuals and lesson plans that contain examples of sample essays. This way, middle school students can avoid wasting time and effort searching for these resources, since they will be able to access these materials whenever they are needed. The best resource that can be used by middle school students books. These materials usually come with samples of sample essays, which can be utilized to solve their homework problems. However, the importance of using these resources is quite obvious. It is crucial that all students have access to these materials, so that they can use them whenever they want.Essay books come in different forma ts, such as written and audio. The purpose of these books is to help middle school students to find samplesof sample essays, to be used for their projects and essays. For example, if they are trying to learn about properties of element numbers, then they should start by going through an essay book that contains an essay on the topic. From this book, they can then go on to study the assignments and problem solving techniques.Another resource that can be used by middle school students is text books that are available in digital and print format. These books can be easily accessed online and are most often found in one of the many online school sites. In addition, these books can be found in the libraries, which is another great way to obtain these books. The main difference between the two types of resources is that the online resource comes with a wide variety of tools and resources that can be used by middle school students. However, the printed book only comes with the basic tools t hat all students need. These books usually have the same types of topics, and they are also used to provide the basics of the entire curriculum.By doing so, middle school students will have the basic tools to solve their homework problems, and other issues. Now, no matter where they are located, or what their age is, middle school students can always use these resources. As long as they know where to look for the resources, then the student will be able to fully benefit from these resources.

How to Write a Letter of Recommendation

How to Write a Letter of Recommendation Writing a letter of recommendation is a big responsibility that could determine the future of an employee, student, colleague, or someone else you know. No wonder so many people are daunted by the process. Letters of recommendation follow a typical format and layout, so it is useful to understand what to include, things to avoid, and how to get started. Whether youre requesting a letter or writing one, a few helpful tips will make the process much easier. What to Include in a Recommendation Letter When  writing a recommendation, it is important to craft an original letter  that is unique to the person youre recommending. You should never copy text directly from a sample letter- this is equivalent to copying a resume from the internet- as it makes both you and the subject of your recommendation look bad. To make your recommendation original and effective, try including specific examples of the subjects achievements or strengths as an academic, employee, or  leader. Keep your comments concise and to the point. Your letter should be less than one page, so edit it down to a couple of examples that you think will be the most helpful. You may also want to speak with the person youre recommending about their needs. Do they need a letter that highlights their work ethic? Would they prefer a letter that addresses aspects of their potential in a particular area? You dont want to say anything that is untrue, but knowing the desired point of focus can provide inspiration for the content of the letter. Example of an Employer Recommendation The sample letter below shows what might be included in a career reference or employment recommendation. It includes a short introduction highlighting the employees strengths, a couple of relevant examples in the two main paragraphs, and a simple closing. Youll notice that the recommender provides specific information on the subject and focuses heavily on her strengths. These include solid interpersonal skills, teamwork skills, and strong leadership capability. The recommender also includes specific examples of achievements (such as an increase in profits). Examples are important and add legitimacy to the recommendation. Another thing youll notice is that this letter is very similar to a cover letter you might send along with your own resume. The format mimics a traditional cover letter and many of the key words used to describe valuable job skills are included. To Whom It May Concern:This letter is my personal recommendation for Cathy Douglas. Until just recently, I was Cathys immediate supervisor for several years. I found her to be consistently pleasant, tackling all assignments with dedication and a smile. Her interpersonal skills are exemplary and appreciated by everyone who works with her.Besides being a joy to work with, Cathy is a take-charge person who is able to present creative ideas and communicate the benefits. She has successfully developed several marketing plans for our company that have resulted in increased annual revenue. During her tenure, we saw an increase in profits that exceeded $800,000. The new revenue was a direct result of the sales and marketing plans designed and implemented by Cathy. The additional revenue that she earned helped us to reinvest in the company and expand our operations into other markets.Though she was an asset to our marketing efforts, Cathy was also extraordinarily helpful in other areas of the company. In addition to writing effective training modules for sales representatives, Cathy assumed a leadership role in sales meetings, inspiring and motivating other employees. She also served as a project manager for several key projects and helped to implement our expanded operations. She has proven, on several occasions, that she can be trusted to deliver a completed project on schedule and within budget.I highly recommend Cathy for employment. She is a team player and would make a great asset to any organization.Sincerely,Sharon Feeney, Marketing Manager ABC Productions What to Avoid in a Recommendation Letter Just as important when writing a letter of recommendation is knowing what not to include. Consider writing a first draft, taking a break, then coming back to the letter for editing. See if you spot any of these common pitfalls. Do not mention personal relationships. This is particularly true if you employed a family member or friend. Keep the relationship out of the letter and focus instead on their professional qualities. Keep the dirty laundry to yourself. If you cannot honestly recommend an employee because of past grievances, its best to decline the request to write a letter. Try not to embellish the truth either. The person reading your letter is trusting your professional opinion. Think about the honesty you would expect in a letter and edit out anything that may be overindulgent. Leave out personal information. Unless it has to do with someones performance at work, its not important.

Top Tips for Observing Mitosis Lab

Top Tips for Observing Mitosis Lab We have all seen illustrations in textbooks of how mitosis works. While these types of diagrams are definitely beneficial for visualizing and understanding the stages of mitosis in eukaryotes and connecting them all together to describe the process of mitosis, it is still a good idea to show students how the stages actually look under a microscope in an actively dividing group of cells. Necessary Equipment for This Lab In this lab, there are some necessary equipment and supplies that would need to be purchased that go beyond what would be found in all classrooms or homes. However, most science classrooms should already have some of the necessary components of this lab and it is worth the time and investment to secure the others for this lab, as they can be used for other things beyond this lab. Onion (or Allum) root tip mitosis slides are fairly inexpensive and easily ordered from various scientific supplies companies. They can also be prepared by the teacher or students on blank slides with coverslips. However, the staining process for homemade slides are not as clean and exact as those that are ordered from a professional scientific supply company, so the visual may be somewhat lost. Microscope Tips Microscopes used in this lab do not have to be expensive or high powered. Any light microscope that can magnify at least 40x is sufficient and can be used to complete this lab. It is recommended that students are familiar with microscopes and how to use them correctly before beginning this experiment, as well as the stages of mitosis and what happens in them. This lab can also be completed in pairs or as individuals as the amount of equipment and skill level of the class allows. Alternatively, photos of onion root tip mitosis can be found and either printed onto paper or put into a slideshow presentation in which the students can do the procedure without the need for microscopes or the actual slides. However, learning to use a microscope properly is an important skill for science students to have. Background and Purpose Mitosis is constantly happening the meristems (or growth regions) of roots in plants. Mitosis occurs in four phases: prophase, metaphase, anaphase, and telophase. In this lab, you will determine the relative length of time each phase of mitosis takes in the meristem of an onion root tip on a prepared slide. This will be determined by observing the onion root tip under the microscope and counting the number of cells in each phase. You will then use mathematical equations to figure out time spent in each phase for any given cell in an onion root tip meristem. Materials Light microscope Prepared Onion Root Tip Mitosis Slide Paper Writing utensil Calculator Procedure 1.  Create a data table with the following headings across the top: Number of Cells, Percentage of all Cells, Time (min.); and the stages of mitosis down the side: Prophase, Metaphase, Anaphase, Telophase. 2.  Carefully put the slide on the microscope and focus it under low power (40x is preferred). 3.  Choose a section of the slide where you can clearly see 50-100 cells in the different stages of mitosis (each â€Å"box† you see is a different cell and the darker stained objects are chromosomes). 4.  For each cell in your sample field of view, determine whether it is in prophase, metaphase, anaphase, or telophase based on the appearance of the chromosomes and what they should be doing in that phase. 5.  Make a tally mark under the â€Å"Number of Cells† column for the correct stage of mitosis in your data table as you count your cells. 6.  Once you have finished counting and classifying all of the cells in your field of view (at least 50), calculate your numbers for â€Å"Percentage of All Cells† column by taking your counted number (from Number of Cells column) divided by the total number of cells you counted. Do this for all stages of mitosis. (Note: you will need to take your decimal you get from this calculation times 100 to make it into a percentage) 7.  Mitosis in an onion cell takes approximately 80 minutes. Use the following equation to calculate data for your â€Å"Time (min.)† column of your data table for each stage of mitosis:  (Percentage/100) x 80 8.  Clean up your lab materials as directed by your teacher and answer the analysis questions. Analysis Questions 1.  Describe how you determined which phase each cell was in. 2.  In which phase of mitosis was the number of cells the greatest? 3.  In which phase of mitosis was the number of cells the fewest? 4.  According to your data table, which phase takes the least amount of time? Why do you think that is the case? 5.  According to your data table, which phase of mitosis lasts the longest? Give reasons as to why this is true. 6.  If you were to give your slide to another lab group to have them repeat your experiment, would you end up with the same cell counts? Why or why not? 7.  What could you do to tweak this experiment in order to get more accurate data? Expansion Activities Have the class compile all of their counts into a class data set and recalculate the times. Lead a class discussion on the accuracy of data and why it is important to use large amounts of data when calculating in science experiments.

Advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing in IT Project Management Research Paper

Advantages and disadvantages of outsourcing in IT Project Management - Research Paper Example This research will begin with the statement that in most of the businesses today, the sole aim is to operate at optimum levels, where they reduce as many costs as possible and increase revenues to their best. In cost reduction, it is about reducing expenditure, especially expenditure, and ensuring that they use the cheapest products and services as possible. For instance, a company might be in need of a certain service for just but a short period of time. It could also be in need of such a service seasonally and not throughout. It would then be quite expensive and unnecessary to hire a full-time professional to handle that task for a short period then stay idle for a larger amount of time. In such cases, the company could consider hiring that professional on a contractual kind of a relationship. This is the primary concept lying behind outsourcing. Outsourcing is essentially the act of assigning certain business processes or activities to an external party that can help in handling t hem. Most of the time, large organizations cannot handle all their processes internally, either because they are too complex, bulky, or seasonal. The more common reason is the temporary nature of some tasks, such that the company is not willing to hire professionals permanently to carry out these activities from within. When the company then outsources the work to the external service provider, they accord them the responsibility of handling that activity all by themselves and maintaining the firm’s interests and assets at the same time.

The impact of graphic design on new media(Graphic Design) Dissertation

The impact of graphic design on new media(Graphic Design) - Dissertation Example The Internet, of course, has played a large part in this. Graphic design is intimately connected with new media – Engholm (2002) states that new media would not have risen to prominence as quickly as it did without graphic design. Therefore, the two concepts are interconnected. Because they are, it is important to discovery how one influences the other. In particular, this study seeks to find out how graphic design influences the consumers of new media. Especially important is the effect upon young people, because they are intimately connected. Young people have virtually always had new media in their lives, and, indeed, they tend to use new media to a profound level. New media is ubiquitous in their lives. To this end, the study focuses upon individuals who are purveyors of new media, yet, by and large, are not experts on graphic arts. They simply â€Å"like what they like.† Graphic arts might be a turnoff if not done correctly. Alternatively, it might be a draw for ot hers, if it is done right. What the study has found is that, with regards to websites, graphic arts are important, but content is more important. With advertisements, it seems to be the opposite of this. Aims and Objective The aim of this project is to show how graphic design and the new media interact. Another aim is to show how young people are influenced by graphic design in their websites and online advertisements. The objective is to tie new media, graphic design and their effects on young people to show graphic designers, advertisers and other purveyors of new media how they can reach the young audience with graphics. New media uses graphic design in a variety of ways. Advertisements, online video games and websites are all ways that graphic design and new media intersect. This study will focus on different ways that graphic design and the Internet intersect, and how graphic design is used on the Internet. This study will examine different online advertisements, web sites and online video game sites to determine how graphic design is used. This study will also examine how young people react to the graphics, and what can be done to make the graphics better. Abstract The first chapter will give an overview of graphic arts and new media. The second chapter will go more into depth in these concepts. The third chapter will feature the results of the interviews and surveys done on the participants to this study. The fourth chapter will synthesize the findings and provide a road map for what should come next in the area of graphic design, as it relates to new media. The fifth chapter will conclude the paper. Chapter 1 In this chapter, a road map for the dissertation will be offered. The first part of this chapter will concentrate on the overview of the graphic design and new media, providing a brief history and definition of the two concepts. The second part will give a brief overview of the literature survey. The third part will explain the research de sign, including the limitations of the particular design, as well as a brief overview

Compare Only the wall by Matthew Sweeney and Mirror by Sylvia Plath. :: English Literature

Compare Only the wall by Matthew Sweeney and Mirror by Sylvia Plath. Poem Comparison. I am going to compare two poems "Only the wall" by Matthew Sweeney and "Mirror" by Sylvia Plath. Both poems are similar as they both use personification. The poem "Only the wall" has the wall, which is personified as the wall is seeing what is happening, but cannot tell anyone. The poem "Mirror" has the mirror, which is personified, as the poem shows what the mirror sees. The poem mirror is about a mirror and a woman who is obsessed with the mirror. The mirror says it does not lie it just tells the truth. "I am not cruel only truthful" This tells you the mirror does not lie it shows the truth even though it might hurt and that it cannot judge how someone looks. In the second stanza the mirror begins to feel sorry for the woman. "I see her back and reflect it faithfully. She rewards me with tears and an agnation of the hands." This tells you how the mirror sees the woman's ugly face everyday and how the mirror sees the woman upset with the way she looks. The mirror is also upset, as it does not mean to upset her, but it can only show the truth. The mood of the poem is sad. "In me she has drowned a young girl, and in me an old woman rises towards her day after day, like a terrible fish." This tells how sad she is especially when she goes to the mirror and sees how her beauty has died away. The way the poem has been structured is the first stanza is about the mirror and the second stanza is about the woman. The poet's idea is trying to make us think about how people care so much about how they look. "I am important to her. She comes and goes. Each morning her face replaces the darkness." This tells us that the woman is maybe upset with the way she looks and how the mirror is really important because she wishes that she could be young and pretty again. Overall I think this poem was sad as it made me feel sorry for the woman. Also at first I found it hard to understand. The second poem has a different subject to the first poem. The first poem is about a woman looking in the mirror and the second poem is about a wall watching three bullies bullying a boy. For example: "The first day only the wall saw the bully trip the new boy" This line tells us that on the new boys fist day only the wall saw

Effectiveness Of Approaches To Teaching And Learning Strategies In Your Subject Area

Evaluate the effectiveness of approaches to teaching and learning strategies in your subject area in meeting the needs of learners. Your response should include an examination of how these could be improved or enhanced and how college management could be involved in making such improvements / enhancements? For my class it is vital to identify the most appropriate level of the course for the learner. Also, the students should know what exceptions and the regulations they need to follow. For that the college could train staff to present the high quality initial assessment and induction to ensure the management of the class is of high standard. I need to make sure students with different learning styles; visual, aural, reading/writing and kinetics, can meet my learning objectives. The students perform better and learn better with information or in tasks that reflect their particular style of learning, so knowledge of students’ learning styles make the teaching more inclusive. To a ddress these different learning styles I convey information in different ways e. g.diagrams, speech, text, discussion, practical tasks etc. I use multimedia technologies such as videos or audio, podcasts and screencasts in lectures and make them available on MOLE. I participate in improvement of documents available electronically so that students can modify them to meet their needs and to read at their own pace. I look friendly to make it easier for learners to approach me and explain how their disability might affect the way they learn, as students with dyslexia might have different needs. Also, I plan differentiated activities and a variety of tasks to cater for the needs of individual learners. For example in one lesson, I engage an adult learner, with prolong absence from learning, to practice in a recent and up-to-date science subject area whilst the rest of the class needs to practice in science technical or laboratory area. All these plans require financial support from the Co llege; for example for better quality of the presentation or to provide extra equipment or broad range of assistive technologies and study support. International students and less able learners are more engaged in the class when I use simplified scientific information to meet their needs.Extra lesson, on-line lectures or private tutor provided from college might enhance their learning ability. The IT department might help for the preparation of special learning activities for partially sighted, blind or deaf students. The college should make opportunities for students to receive disability awareness training about equality of opportunity as part of Personal Development Planning. I participate in school training in matters related to disability awareness and support that provide clear relevant resources and guidance. For example I should know how to communicate with a dyslexia learner in a positive way in the context of HE. I regularly participate in departmental or teaching committee meetings to discuss and review disabilities issues. I make sure the learners received high quality induction information about the inclusive strategies and I will discuss with college about the reasonable adjustments that should be made for the disabled students within my class, at College or while they are on school trip; for example for their health and safety arrangements in a work placement. If any support teachers or guest lecturers are delivering my scientific sessions I will discuss with head of college to make ensure that they are aware of the needs of disable learners including those with dyslexia. I will also request for right training needed to be given to laboratory assistants and demonstrators to support the disable learners. The college could consider introducing self-supporting study groups for students or facilitating mentoring support from students with dyslexia who are already achieving in a higher year of study. The college might improve learning ability of the les s able students by providing a personal digital assistant, a non-medical helper, electronic organiser, laptop or tablet PC with assistive technologies such as text-to-speech and mind mapping software. The college should ensure that lectures, seminars and fieldwork planning activities are supported with good quality handouts and electronic versions. Asthma triggers in the environment might lead to an asthma attack.Ensure that staff are briefed on the health and safety issues for students with asthma, and that these are properly monitored and special attention must be given to the cleanliness of laboratories and workshops. School can allow dyslexia students to use of an amanuensis scribe or a computer in examinations for spell checker and dictation software. It is important to update teaching strategies to support learning and minimise the impact of disabilities including dyslexia. I consider the learners point of view for my range of teaching methods and learning styles. I use wider range of teaching and learning styles.I use more practical methods of teaching for the learners to make the session more interesting and to engage and motivate learners. For future detailed preparation of the subject area I use feedback that I receive from learners about the changes in my session to identify their style of interest and level of their understanding about my subject area because this will likely to increase their engagement during the lesson. As a result, learners will be more focused during discussions, they will answer the questions correctly and they will be more engaged during the lesson.
